iVhile Sheriff Brooks was on his
jvay to Athens after Dock Moon,
last Monday, he was called on by
the conductor of a Seaboard Air
Line train to assist him in getting
the door of a water closet in the
coach open, so that he could
got to a passenger. When the door
was opened their man showed
fight, and a lively time was had
belore he was arrested. He was
locked up, but has since been re
leased a* no charge was made
against him.
Lexington has an adjourned
term of her Superior bn hand this
weak, clearing up criminal busi
ness.
The fruit crop is very promis
ing, and we hope no late froet*
will come to destroy it.
We have had good eaon* and
farmers report good stand* of corn
and cane. *
