Monday afternoon the store and
dwelling of G. M. David came near
being destroyed by fire. One of
his sons lighted a swinging lamp
and undertook to till it while burn
ing. The lamp fell, spilling oil
on the floor and counter. It, ig
nited, and but for timely assist
ance the whole thing would soon
have been in ashes. No damage
was done.
