MONEY IN RAISING CABBAGE
j On the Comer-Daniclsville road
about a mile out from Comer Mr.
S. J. Carmichael has 1 Acre planted
;to cabbage which has proven quite
J profitable. Without any experience
| he has been very successful in the
growing of: them. He has already
sold for cash SIIO.OO worth and there
jure as many more Still in the patch.
• The total cost of growing and mar
keting has been a little less than SSO,
as follows:
Cost of plants $1.5.20
'Fertilizer 9.00
j Soda 9.00
| Labor in making 6.45
I Expense of selling 10,00
| All these cabbage have been sold
! locally in small quantities which
j expense would have been considerably
I less had they been sold in quantity
at one time; Mr. W. S. Eskew
our farm demonstrator, could have
placed them in a car lot at 4 l-2c.
per pound f. 0. b. Comer. Many of
the heads of cabbages weigh from 8
to 12 pounds each and there are six
heads ; n the patch that will weigh
around 15 pounds..
There should be at least 25 acres
planted to this crop so that a car
be shipped from Comej another year.
If you are interested "talk the matter
over with Mr. Carmichael who will
be glad to give you hie experience
with the above crop.
