This, being the tenth birthday,
toasts were given in an enthusiastic
and loyal manner tc the Club and
president, who had steered it?, affairs
so wisely arul so lovingly. The birth
day cake, the artistic work of Mr-.
J. P. Gholston, handsomely em
bossed with C. W. C. ,1913 1923
and bearing the ten lighted tapers
was brought in on the tea waion by
Mrs. R. M. Jetton. Mrs.. G. 0.
Whelchel cut the bodkin, Mrs. Car
michael the dime, Mr.;. T. 0. Davi
son the thimble and Miss Ward the
ring.
Delicious refreshments, consisting
of* Jell o with whipped cream and
cake, followed by coffee, was served
by Mesdames J. W. Gholston, J.
P. Gholston, R. M. Jetton and C.
C. Avers.
FIDELIS CLASS MEETS
The January meeting of the Fidcl-
I is Class was held Wednesday after
: noon. Jan. In, at the home or’ Mrs.
(A. M. Wilkins with a large number
j present. The lovely home with
| warm fires in the open fire place,
| suit shaded lights and numerous
| bowlers of blossoming narcissii was
j most attractive on thin occasion.
The meeting was presided over by
Mrs. Carmichael, pres, and opened
j with prayer by Mrs. C. Davison.
After the usual business affairs, Mrs.
Davison gave a reading, “The Sands
of Time Are Running.” She conclud
ed with the thought that we must
let our thorns of usefulness hloupom
into deeds of kindness.
A Skeleton Story (or Mimic of
Class) by Mrs. J. D. Thompson
afforded quite a bit of fun.
Numerous and beautiful were the
valentine games and conteAs. mak
ing the social hour interesting and
delightfu [. Mjf . Wilkins, always
a charming hostess, was at her best
on this occasion and the beautifully
planned affair one of the happiest
of New Year season. She was assist
ed by Mrs. E. W. Johnson whose
wit and merriment added much to
the social hour.
An elaborate sadad course was
served by the hoste assisted by
Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Carmichael.
G. A. NEWS
At the December meeting of the
G. A.’s it was voted that we ob
serve the week of prayer on Jan. 5,
1924. Mrs. D. E. Graham (our
leader) invited us to spend this day
at her heme.
The morning session was impres
sive and the program was intercs 1 -
jn&, including an instructive talk
given by Mrs. W. P. Brooks Jr.,
on “The Trials of a Missionary, and
’some of the Foreign Customs.” Ap
propriate scripture verses were
read by several of the girls; also
clippings of importance were read
and an interesting story v/as related
by our Pres., Cathrine William*.

lection was then taken.
The dinner hour will long bo re
membered; each course was served
with rare taste.
The afternoon session was spent in
song and praver and in the study

in social chats and eating fruits
served by our hastes.

The W. M. S. of Baptist church
held an all day prayer service! in the
interest of Foreign Missions, on last
Friday. Under the leadership of Mrs
| W . P. Brooks, our president, an in
j ter ci ting and instructive program
i was rendered. About twelve ladies
brought dinner and several arrang
ed for coffee to be served at the
lunch hour. The day was profitably
spent, We think, and drew us clo.er
together sphitr.ally and socially.
