Clean-up week is being observed
this week, and a warfare is being
waged on dirt and unsightly places..
All the people are co-operating and
it is expected that the end of the
week will find quite an improvement

COMER WOMAN'S CLUB
The Comer Woman’s Club met
yesterday afternoon at the home of
Mrs. T. C. Davison with Mrs. T.
0. Daviison, Mrs. R. C. Davison
and Mrs. F. C. Whelchel joint
hostesses. Artistic and dainty dec
orations of crab apple blossoms were
used. With Mrs. C. H. Barnes,
president, in the chair, the meeting
was opened with the Reading of
Club Litany led by Mrs. A. C.
Sorrells.

A rising vote of thanks was given
Mrs. Jetton and helpers for their
work in serving the banquet, from
which $62.00 goes into the Club
Treasury. Interesting repoits from
a numbed of Departments were
heard.
Mrs. Barnes, re-electc.l president
declined the nomination and it is a
source of regret to the Club that
she can no longer serve. The other
officer; nominated were: Mrs.' A.
O. Son-ells, Lit vice president; Mrs.
. T. EberharJt, 2nd vice president;
’lrs. J. A. Sims, Secretary; and
Mrs. C. C. Whelchel Treasurer.
The hostesses served a delicious
salad course with coffee.
Mrs. Pierce Maxey of Maxeys
was a welcome visitor at this time.
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MR.
J. W. COOPER HELD SUNDAY
Funeral Services for Mr. J. W.
Cooper were held at Baptist church
Sunday afternoon with Rev. A. E.
T.oagn officiating. Mr. Cooper died
Friday morning in a lospital in
Atlanta, where he had been for sev
eral) months. Mr. Cooper 1 was
wounded in the World War and was
never well afterwards, although he
was able to visit his family here only
a few days before his death
His wife and children have the
sympathy of all in their sorrows.

Mrs. Ed Loftis \sas the entertain
ing hostess to class on Tuesday.
A profusion of snowy) dogwood
blossoms banked mantels and was
placed in large bowls on tables in
ball, parlor and dining room, present
ing a very attractive appearance to
guests.
At the social hour, after business
was attended to, an amusing and ex
citing hunt for Easter eggs was en
gaged in, Mrs. Lancaster and Mrs.
Rogers tying for the largest number,
while Mrs. Carmichael and Mrs. J
D. Thompson tied for the smallest
number found. A contest with each
word beginning with the sound of
“eggs” was enjoyed.
Mrs. Loftis served a salad course
with coffee.
The class was glad to have Mrs.
Rowe of Carlton and Mrs. Pierce
Maxey of Maxeys as visitors on this
occasion.

end of a 3-2 score in the sixth in
