Darius Mims said that on the 13th
of July last he was convicted In the
recorder's court of violating tho city
blind tiger ordinance, and lined 3150,
and that after serving on the gang a
few days he was released on a writ of
habeas corpus, and that on an ap
peal th' Judgment of the court below
was reversed. He thought tha' v he
bod not been treated right by the wit
nesses. claiming that It was because
It was necessary for him to fight a
drunken woman that the case was
made. He has had every opportunity
to escape, but had not made any at
tempt to dd so. He now wants the
sentence set aside.
The mayor announced that by the
change of some of the lines of the
cemetery, there were many more lota
that could be had at Rose Hill. The
matter will he taken up by Alderman
Adams, chairman of that committee.

provement of that street. The mayor

ney to Macon to testify In cases In
the United State* court, a writ of
habeas corpus ad testificandum was
yesterday isaued by Judge Speer, upon
application made by attorneys of the
parties Involved. Mra. Grceney 1*
now serving a life sentence at the
state farm In Baldwin county for the
killing of a well-known south Geor
gia man. who. It was claimed, at
tempted to force iris attentions upon
her. She was an Inmate of the Bibb
county Jail for over a year, while her
case was pending before the atate
courts and prison commission. An
effort was made by hyndredx .>f Ma
con people, including many ladles, to
secure a pardon for th* unfortunate
weman, but it wa* refused.
