MERCER WILL TACKLE HOWARD
IN GOOD GAME THIS AFTERNOON
Howard Brings a Flno Team This
Thanksgiving—Game Starts Promptly
at 2:30 and a Big Crowd Will Prob
ably Seo the XIck-off.
The annual Thanksgiving foot ball
gamo In Macon this yegr Is between
Mercer University and Howard College
of a Birmingham, Alabama. This day not
only doses the season here nt Mercer,
but In all but a few of the largest col
leges In the country. Tho Mercer boys
are very much elated over this season's
foot ball, although they did not do murh
with the larger colleges, they showed a
vast Improvement over last year.
Last Thanksgiving day was marred by
very rainy weather, but the prospects
for today are much better than then in
sjdte of what the weather man aaya.
Contrary to the popular belief. Howard
College has a very strong team this year.
They held the strong Auburn eleven
down to. the score of 18 to 0. one touch
down less than Mercer did when they
were here. They aslo held tho crack
Alabama team down to 17 to 0, and came
very near scoring on thorn, too.
Mercer will have a much harder pro
position In Howard than most people
think, as Mercer beat them last year and
lias a much stronger team than sho did
then. Hut Howard also has n much
stronger team than she did last year.
Mercer will have to look out for several
players on that team, as they deserve
especial mention. Denny, at left tackle.
Is considered one of the best In the south,
and would In all probability be put on
the nil-southern team ir ho had a bet
tor bunch behind him. mount, their
star halfback. Is also more or less of n
star, and figures mostly In tho forward
pass, u thing which h« Is most adept In
doing. Moon, playing nt right end is also
a man of much value.
Another thing to thw advantage of
Howard la the fact that sho has nil of
her regular men In the
them being disabled. wllHPSMmi

makes a pretty good heart for the team.
Tho game will start promptly at 3:30,
giving plenty of time for an early dln-

The line-up for Mercer is ns follows:
li. Poole, right end.
Hell, right taeklo.
Dunaway, right guard.
Scoggins, center.
F. Poole, left guard.
(llllesple. left tackle.
Balter, left end.
M&llary. quarter.
Cochran, right half.
Bln Ion, left naif.
Griffith, full back.
There is no doubt that the two- teams
are about evenly rimtrhed. nnd It Is
merely between which team will hold the
best In the pinches, and to that teum the
game will most likely go.

deavored to stop hor she ripped nnd
carried on scandalously. It was said
that she even cussed a little, and all
this without tho slightest provocation.
When cnllcd on to tell her aide of tho

mad. She had heard the officers tell
tho story of tho trouble, and she had
heard the women back up the atory
