THE BURGLARS
ARE LOCKED UP
Detective \V. A. Smith believes that
lie has in custody the negro boys who
went Into .the stores of M. Bloch, the
Pure Pood Store, and others, and that
he has sufficient evidence against them
to put them out of the running for
some time to come.
Detective Smith has boon at work On
the case since these stores were bur
glarized. and something led him In the
direction of one Columbus Persons,
who lives in the vldn'ty of the Man
chester Mills, In Vlnevillc, yesterday
morning before the rising hour of the
family, and yanked Columbus from his
arm bed.
Columbus protested against such In
trusion at the unseemly hour, and raid
that such an invasion Into his prlvato
apartments was unwarranted and that
he was going to see about It. Not
withstanding these protests, ho was
taken to the station bouse and locked
up. Then the detectvo wont after
another man, but failed to get him at
the ‘time.
Because of the failure to get the
other boy. tho case was not ready to
be tried at court yesterday morning.
After cotirt, Columbus laid it all
on the other boy. ami In duo course of
time Walter Bingham was under
lock and key.
In tho meanwhile the detective was
at work endeavoring to find where
some of the goods taken from tho
stores could be found. It so happened
that the Pure Food Store had some
cigars handled by no other houso in
the city, and It was some of these
cigars that were taken from the store
on tho night of .the robbery. Some of
these were found in a certain negro
store, and it remains for the detective
to show that they were obtained from
the boys who went into the store on
thnt night.
The officers believe tbit there were
others connected with the two hoys,
und will have the crowd ready for
trial this morning.

LADIES WILL AID IK
Tho commltees from the various
Confederate organizations of the city
appointed for the purpose of taking
up the matter of tho Incomplcted mon
ument to the women of tho south, met
at tho city hull yesterday afternbon at
4 o’clock.
It was decided to wait for actlv
work or plans until after the holidays,
but the veterans pt^scrit were delight
ed with the manner In which the la
dles from the Daughters of the Con
federacy took hold of the subject. They
woro enthusiastic, and assured the
veterans that they could be counted on
to do all In their power to further the
object of the meeting. There wai
definite plan presented, but they' had
in vlew r tho main object, and that
was to complete the monument, and
to do this tho warm, active nnd en
thusiastic Support of tho Daughters of
the Confederacy could bo relied on.
Tho veterans who were on the com
mittee were more than pleased with
this proffered help from the ladles, and
they are now satisfied that so soon as
the Holidays are over, and things set
tle a little, the work will be taken
up and carried out. With, tho help
of the ladles, they see no reason why
tho monument may not be completed
by the 26th of April and Its unveil
ing form a part of tho ceremonies of
that day’.

Beautiful Home Wedding of Miss
Dellie May Moore and Mr. Stanton.
The marriage of Mbs Dellie May
Mooiv nnd Mr. George Grimes Stanton
took place Thursday morning, De
cember the seventeenth, at a beuuti-
fulyhonic wedding, the ceremony oc
curring at half after ton o’clock.
The lower floor was all thrown to
gether and decorated beautifully in
white and green, quantities of southern
snillax being used in garlands and
fektoons on the walls and twined grace
fully about the white columns, separat
ing the parlor and sitting room and
also above the arched doorways, win
dows and chandeliers.
Palms were also effectively used
throughout the house, and these weye
banked ns a background for the Im
provised altar before which tho bridal
party were grouped in a semi-circle.
A half circle of white marble pedes
tals upholding silver candelabra with
unshaded candles In front of them,
softly lighted the pretty scone as the
bridal couple stood before the officiat
ing minister during the ceremony.
Silver candelabra holding tho light
ed white tapers oIho adorned the man
tels Which were banked with the snil
lax and fern.
Tho beautifully decorated rooms were
filled with relatives and friends of tho
couple to witness the ceremony which
occurred at half after ten o’clock, and
was performed by Dr. 13. C. Durgnn or
the First Baptist Church, the bride’
pastor.
A pretty and interesting feature of
the mnrrluRo w«a that tho bride wns
irmrried at the same age. and had the
same date, and hour for tho ceremony
ns her mother, and used the sanur'wedi
ding ring, and marriage ceremony.
Mrs. J. Turner Shepperd presided
at the piano and rendered Mendels
sohn's wedding march ns the bridal
party passed down tho white ribbon
nlslc, nnd softly played “Trnumqrel.”
and tho “Flower Song" ilhring tho cere
mony. As an nnte?nuptlnl solo Miss
Rose Glover sang very beautifully, “O
Promise Mo.” The bridesmaids nnd
groomsmen ciune first. Miss Elizabeth
Knowles, of Eastman; Miss Luclle Raj',
Miss Lula Flewollen. of Kufaufa; Mr.
Aiken Moore, Mr. A. B. McNolco nnd
Mr. Ben Aiken, and after them tho
brUlo with her maid of honor, Miss
Luclle Adams. The groom and Ills
best man, Mr. Eugene McMillan, en
tering at another door and meeting
them at the nltar.
The bride wore a handsome tailored
suit of sage green broadcloth, the long
coat worn over a lace waist braided
In green, to mntch the shade of her
dross, nnd her hnt a small toque to
ninteh the gown also, nnd trimmed
with old rose wings and n large silver
buckle. She enrrled a bouquet of
bride roses with long tulle streamers.
The maid of honor nr.d bridesmaids
wore soft white chiffon gowms combin
ed with Valenciennes und bnby Irish
lace, nnd carried bouquets of endian
tress carnations tied with pink tulle
streamers.
The bride's mother, Mrs. Oliver
Thomas Moore, wns handsomely gown
ed In chiffon doth, the corsage haying
touches of violet-colored velvet, nnd
lace about the corage.
Following the ceremony nn elegant
buffet luncheon wns served. Assist
ing nt this were Misses Ruth Rallston
Martha Howard. Estelle MeNlece and
Martha Massej'.
The guests all registered In the
bride's hook, which was in charge n(
Miss Annie Payne Jelks. and will be
