Telegraph is of groat interest to all:
LARIST raolt BEAUVOIR,
Atlanta, Ootober 15.—Tbe retnra to-day
of tbe oitixens'oommitteeiof Athens from
Bjaovoir settles finally the doubt which
has been raisod and indnitiioasly circnlnt
ol in certain quarters as to tbe oomiDg of
Mr. Davis to tbe State Fair at Maoon. The
committee from Athens charged with tbe
pleasant doty of oonveying tho invitation
indorsed by Mis. Howell Cobb, was com-
p-aad of Congressman Carl
ton, Editor P. A. Stovall,
II ju. Lamar Cobb and Coi. W. J. Morton.
The committee reached Atlanta to-day from
Beauvoir, Last night they dined with Mr.
and Mrs Davis and Miss Winnie Davis.
Mr Davis assured tbe delegation that the
trip to Maoon was a matter of special mo
ment with him, and unless there was some
unforeseen change In present conditions ho
and his wife aod daughter would visit M v-
oou sh they were osptqially nnxtoos to do so.
It wrs farther assured to the oommittee
that if tbe present health of the ex-I’resi-
dent of tho Confederacy continued, he and
bis family wonld not only visst Maoon, bat
they wonld also visit Athens curing the
Northeastern Fair celebration. The com
mittee, when yonr correspondent met them
to-day, was feeling in high rpiiils, and felt
no doubt that Mr. and Mrs. Davis and Miss
Winnie wonld be both at Maoon and at
Athens.
