The potato bugs are very bad
this year. This pest is said to
have taken up its abode here since
the introduction of the red Irish
potato, a few years ago. It is
known as the Colorado beetle, and
what they can do for a row of
Irish potatoes is a plenty, The
best remedy is to pick them off
every morning and destroy them.
This, however is somewhat te
dious, and it is said that a half tea
spoonful nt Paris Green mixed
with a gallon of water and lightly kill
sprinkled over the vines will
them. The dose may have to be
repeated. They should be destroy
ed, for, if not, they will attack
other vegetables.
