The Central Campmeeting.
The exercises at the Central were open**
ocl on last Friday evening, at tbe Central
campground, 5 miles South of Talbotton.
On Saturday morning the services were
conducted by Rev R L Wiggins—in the
afternoon Rev E H McGehee preached a
most effective sermou to a large congre
gation. The 11 o’clock sermou on Sun
day was preached by the presiding Elder,
Dr J W Hinton, of Columbus. The re
maining services of the meeting wore
ably‘conducted by visiting minis'ers
while the attendance throughout, while
not as good as on previous yea’s, was
uuite iatisiactory.

The Bears at Work .
We don't mean the sort that prowl up
and down Wall street, but the veritable
Bruin, who walks with stealthy tread to
catch young pigs, or old ones, or to de
vour any sweet morsel which may by
chance fall to his lot. On Wednesday
night last an unusual disturbance was
raised in the buck yard of Mrs Babm
Nixon, living near Baldwmville. As was
most natural under the circumstances
she went out to ascertain the cause of
the alarm, when to her astonishment she
perceived a great black something mak"

who were putting in a most noisy pro
test against the intrusions of the stums
