Husbands and Wives.
Ercmi tlio Marietta, Qa, Journal.
When one one of our married la
dies goes off on a v isit and leaves her
husband at home to keep house, and
lie lias the children to look after, the
cow to milk, the fence to nail up,
company to entertain, and in the time
ol it all the co k quits and leaves him
the cooking to do also, you ought to
see that married man jump on the
first train and bring her home. Such
an affair occurred in Marietta last
week. These noble wives are mighty
useful, and, (loti bless them ! we
couldn’t do without them. If a mar
ried man thinks housekeeping
is easy, let him take his wife’s place
for a week, while she goes off on a
visit, and he will be converted ftom
the error of his thoughts.
Good Advice-
A young Indy writes to ‘Brick’
I’omeroy as follows: Would 1 bo

I love aiid who prolenHOß to love me,
anil is handsome, well educated and
has a plenty of this world's goods,
but is addicted to strong driuk, but
says ho will abstain after marriage,
when he has sowed his wild oats!
I am an orphan and write to yen
as friend for advice, Pomeroy an
swers about as follows: You had
bettor gel into your collie, pull the
lid down yourself, mi l be consecra
ted to your mother earth ttiau mar
ry a man who drinks, Thcro are
thousands of poor women
whose lives are made wretched by
listening to the promise of reforma
tion alter marriage. If .you do not
want to get in your collie, take the
most obnoxious pieces of old meat
that you can find and take it to
your bosom lor a husband, rattier
than marry a man who is debauch
ed, degraded and debased by strong
drink
Realized the Situation-
Ho had asked her for heaven s
sake to give him something to eat,
for he had fasted for three eonsecu.

half shut and was hesitating, when
he added:

condition of the country perfectly.

swapping of location was certain to
follow.
