We are pleased to note indications
of progtess in the legislative affairs of
Georgia. Some very favorable talk
was indulged in, and a bill introduced
to establish a schoil of technology in
Georgia, In this practical aid ma.j
ter-ot-business age, it is proper that
our sons should have soms practical
knowledge of the mechanic arts, as
their mastery influences largely suc
cess in several callings in life. Not
only should such experimental knowl
edge be had, but the technical mas
tery of the principles governing prac
tical mechanics should be a part of
the educational system ot the day.
The kid-gloved dispensation for the
South has departed; and we are ush
ered boldly into the face of living,
solid business facts. And the manner
in which we grapple with such tacts,
whether ignorantly or intelligently, will
determine the measure of success that j
ensues. We hail the introduction of!
the bill referred to, as the harbin- 1
ger of a brighter and more progressive
day. I-et it pass, anti lit old Georgia
lift up her face to the morning and as
sert her power and influence as a
champion of the mechanic arts, the
technical mastery of which will enter
largely into our futurejirosperity*
