MALAGA:
< Malaria is an almost in- •
describable malady which
not even the most talented
physicians are able to fath
om. Its cause is most fre
quently ascribed to local
surroundings, and there is
very little question, but this
opinion is substantiated by
facts. Malady does not nec
essarily mean chills and
fever while these troubles
usually accompany it It
often affects the sufferer with
general lassitude, accom
panied by loss of appetite,
sleeplessness, a tired feeling
and a high fever, the per
son afflicted growing weak
er and weaker, loses flesh
day after day, until he be
comes a mere skeleton, a
shadow of his former self

An officer of the Sultan’s body
guard cat oat the tongue of a boat
man the other day because he charged
him with keeping back part of his pay
and said he would get it from him in
the day of judgment. The officer
boasted of his cruelty, expecting his
rank to save him, but the Sultan or
dered him to be punished “just like
any other criminal.”

Indiana has a law to prevent weak-
minded persons marrying. A crusty
bachelor insinuatoe that the weak-
minded are the only persons who
ever think of doing such a thing.
