Sunday school class on Tuesday after
noon at The Dixie. After the picture
ar. ice course was served at Gilreafh’s.
HALLOWE’EN PARTY.
A delightful social event of the
younger set was the masquerade party
given by Messrs. John and Edgar
Kelly on last Friday- night.
Pumpkins, autumn leaves and lan
terns were used with black cats, gob
lins and witches to make the rooms at
tractive. The dining table was cov
ered with a Hallowe’en cloth; the cen
terpiece was a largo pumpkin filled
with fruit and surrounded by black
cats, witches and goblins. Ices and
mints, carrying out the Hallowe’en
idea, were served.
Each guest was presented with Hal
lowe’en favors, —caps for the girls and
horns for the boys. The fancy cos
tumes of the . guests were varied and
inferfeting. f'ifty of the younger set
were Invited.

The Missionary Council of the Meth
odist Episcopal Church South has
named the week of November sth as
the week of prayer. Special prayer ser
vice will be held by the Missionary
Society of .the Sam Jonens Memorial
Church on Monday, Tuesday and Wed
nesday afternoons of next week at 3
o'clock.
On Monday afternoon after a short
service, Mrs. S. B. Ledbetter will speak
ou the subject of “Unselfish Praying.”
On Tuesday afternoon Mrs. W. W.
Daves will lead. The subject will be
“The Needs.” Wednesday Mrs. L. D.
Munford will have charge of the ser
vice on the subject of “Our Re
sponse.” "

Comrades of the P. M. B. Young Camp
of Confederate Veterans desire to ex
press their thanks and appreciation for
the annual dinner given to them by
these good women on Thursday, the
11th inst., at the Fair Grounds. In
abundance of beautifully cooked food,
served by charming young women, it
could not be surpassed, and we have
not seen It equalled.
Our hearts go out to these ladies for
the gracious hospitality which theif un
tiring zeal and devotion have bestowed
upon us. We owe them all things, we
can pay them only in love and thanks;
these they have in fullest measure, and
we deem ourselves favored above the
sons of men, in that we are thought
worthy to be the recipients of such
favors at such hands.
