—In our last issue ve nolioed the arrest
of Fed Perry, cold., in Aincricus,uniter sus¬
picion of having stolen a yoke of steers from
Bill Heed. Bill went to Aa.ericus and was
accompanied by bis lawyer, B. F. AVutts
esq., and Deputy Fheriffi Hol ler, who was
armed with a wr mint for Fed’s arrest. On
Monday Fed was brought to Lumpkin and
lodged in jail. On Wednesday morning he
was brought before Judge Karksey and in
default of a bond of $i50 was committed to
jail to await the action of the Grand Jury.
Fed's excuse for attempting to sell the steers
is that his wife bought them from Heed and
he had a light to sell them. He has retain¬
ed E. G. Simmons esq , of Americas, to
defend him before the Superior Court.

very thankful that his neighbors had sent in
enough sweet potatoes tor dinner lor his

girdle, took a large drink of water and pro¬
ceeded with his work, still happy, although

HOG KILLING TIME IN STEWART.
During the late cold spell in Stewart a
large number of fat hogs were kibed and
ear citizens generally have been enjoying
all the benefits of hog-killing time. Wo
lievc a larger number of hogs will bo killed
in Stewart this winter than in any previous
winter in twenty years. The numner of

farms and in weight they run from 150 to
