WIN'CE'R* 1946.
No curtains at the windows,
No rugs upon the floor,
Beds bare of sheets and pillowslips,
We’ve patched them o’er and o’er.
The shingled roof has sprung a leak,
The woodwork cries for paint,
But prices charged by labor
Would make a rich man faint.
Our stock of dresses is a sight,
We’ve mended every one,
But if Sears ’ll send us an oyercoat.
We can still find a p'ace in the sun.
They say E, Miller has no coal.
R. Cannon sells no strips,
O. Justice cuts no kindling wood,
M, Hall planes no more chips.
The Butane Folks no heaters have,
No pipes for gas to run,
But if Sears will send us overcoats,
We can all go sit in the sun.
