THE MURRAY NEWS
SPRING PLACE, MURRAY COUNTY, GEORGIA, FRIDAY, OCTOBER] / ( 1 9°9 •
GEORGIA
BAPTIST ASS'N
Will Hold Its Next
With Spring Place
Church.
The North Georgia Baptist
sociation met with the church
Piney Grove, uu September 15,
1909, in Whitfield county,
enjoyed a very sound and logical
sermon delivered by Rev. J. J.
Montgomery, of Mill Creek, as
introductory to the work.
After intermission and
of wlffch there seemed an abund¬
ance and the best, the organiza¬
tion of the body was effected by
electing J. T. Nichols, Modera¬
tor; Chas. Foster, 0l§rk; and . 1 .
M. Bridges, Treas.
on Preaching consisted of Dea¬
cons of Piney Grove and Rev.
Lackey. Some fine preaching was
listened to by the eager people.
I mention, especially, one ser¬
mon by Rev. J. .J. Bennett, Sec¬
retary of State Board of
and others, wnose names 1 do not
recall.
One of the most eloquent and
practical speeches were made by
brother Matthews, a lav man, on
Sunday Softool work. De Works
under (he supervision of the Sun¬
day school board.
He gave a graphic description
of a Bible class and how to con¬
duct it—such as every Sunday
school could and should have.
lie may have thought that he
was launching something new,
but 1 have now—and have had
for years—just such a school. I
nave taken my class through the
New Testament, and we studied
the 19th chapter of Mark today
on our wav through again.
The session was truly a har¬
monious one and ye scribe was
elected to go to the Georgia Bap¬
tist convention, at Dublin.
No discord could find a place
in the body and every one seem¬
ed delighted when ye scribe in
vited the body to meet next year
with the Soring Place church.
