JUDGE EVE PLANS
GOOD AUTO ROADS
Tens ol Ef*ort Ruing Madu to Cun-
Bi:i;l Milledgeville, fttocon and At
lanta With Augusta.
In an interview with representative
of the Augusta Herald 'Juesday Judge
Wra. F. Eve, of Richmond county, told
of the strong effort beir« made to im
prove the old Milledgeville road and the
Herald had the following to say on the
subject:
.lodge Eve has started to work on the
Milledgeville road with “the purpose of
making it part of the automobile course
from Savannah to Augusta and Atlanta,
and also with the possible view of hav
ing the run from New Y ark to Atlanta,
extended to Augusta, it is conceded
to Richmond county, all over the state,
that her roads are the finest in the
state, but Judge Eve is making special
efforts to bring all the sounty roads ep
to the standard of the roads near the
city.
Judge Eve told ot the different routes
the association intends to build. While
talking of the future of the roads of the
state. Judge Eve was quite enthusiastic
"bver the outlook. He said as follows:
“At the meeting at Albany we mapped
out several routes and the work is al
ready starting on most of them. 1 have
started improving the Richmond county
roads, and the other counties are begin
ning work.
“We intend to have a fine roadway
from Augusta, to Atlanta. This will
make a very fine trip.
"An effort will be made to get the
counties along the line of the Georgia
railroad interested in good roads, so
that a direct route can be made between
Augusta and Atlanta. Many of the
counties on that line already have fine
roads, but there is still room for great
improvements.
“AH the roads extending from' Au
gusta towaids Athens. Milledgeville
and Washington and Atlanta will pass
, through Thomson. The roads up to this
point are among the best in the state
with the exception of a few bad stretch
es. It is our intention to have a fine
roaii extending to Warrenton from
Augusta, and then from Warrenton to
Mitledgewille. and possibly to Macon.
Every effort will he made to eanry the
mad through to Macon as it wi!J be a
big thing to have practically every
large city in the state conected by one
fine mad rrilh its numerous brzaehes
When the different roads are completed,
practically everyone will pass through
Augusta and Augusta will benefited
