To the Honorable Grand Jury, Baldwin
dliring his association with the hospital
and that at no time have anv offend
ing attendants been alio weu to remain
at the sanitarium. He testified that
all reports were rendered by him and
personally supervised, and consequently
he knew the entire situation well.
Dr John W. Mobley stated he knew
no instances where abuses were not
promptly remedied. Dr. A. Y. Little
testified ho had charge of the affairs
of the female department, having three
hundred patients under him immediate
care. He stated all nurses were well
qualified to hold positions attending
lectures twice weekly, and able to
diagnose the physical condition of pa
tients under their care.
Dr. Thos. R. Wright, of Augusta,
Was placed cn tho stand under oath
and requested to give a comparative
statement of the condition of the
Georgia sanitarium. He declared aft
er exhaustive examination he found
conditions in New York, Pennsylvania,
Ohio and United States hospital at
Washington to be no better than here,
despite the fact that larger aporopria-
tions are given them. He recently
made a trip north with Dr. Thos. M.
Hall, of Milledgeville, to inspect north
ern institutions.
The examination will probably be
finished this week, but nothing has so
far been presented that reflects on the
management of the institution in any
way, so far as can be learned.

What promises to hS the biggest
thing in the way of industry in Mil

Fowler-Flomistor Coal and Lumber Co.,
and the project assumes stupenduous
proportions witli a deal closed lint
Thursday night. By its terms the
concern in quest’on becomes ownei t f
nearly fi/e acres of land around tho
present plant and the plans of the
company provide for a woodworking
plant w thin the near future and im
mediate., a full line of builders’ sup
plies will be added to the stock already
carried, which is quite complete in
itself.
The success which has crowned the
management of the company has given
full confidence to tho new undertaking
and there is no doubt but that it will
mean mneh to the industrial wor'd here.'
It is expected that fully $25,00,) capital
will be employed in tho business and a
full line of furniture may bo manufact
ured by the company shortly. The
making of mantels, cabinets, sash and
blinds will be the first undertaking and
this will be gradually increased until
other household accessories are manu
factured.
The push and pluck of the enterpris
ing firm wins the commendation of the
general public and Milledgeville as a
whole will no doubt hail the day when
tho astablishmaat reaches} the propor-

Endurance Trip to Atlanta
From Savannah
At four o’c’ocic Monday afternoon
21 of the 29 cars which started from
i avannah Monday morning rolled into
the city, and later 3 others came in
to spend the night. A cheering crowd
greeted tho first arrivals and later the
throng was enlarged by hundreds who
came to see the ponderous machines.
Along tho trip accidents happened
■vhich put several of the machines out of
commission and two of thi.n passed
through Millodgevilie Toes lay morn
ing after the crowd left . Happily but
few sorious accidents, m irn ,| the trip,
Mayor Tiedman, of Savannah, sustain
ing as much injury as any one, and
broke his linger also.
The reception tendered by Milledge-
villc folk was all that could be desired
and every assistance possible was ren-
derei the dusty party, among the num
ber being several ladies. The docura-
tions at the Baldwin, the Elks Home
and in fact all over the business section
of the city, added greatly to tile general
appearance. Every committee was well
organized and nothing went wrong. At
the Baldwin refreshments were Beryed
the entire crowd nnd dninty souvenirs
were given.
The departure of the travellers Tues
day morning was the feature of tho
whole affair. The G. M. C. Cadets first
formed line and atound the G. N. & I.
College campus more than a half thous
and girls, provided with a flag, waved
a fond farewell to the party, enthusi
asm reigned supreme.
The event maiks a new ora in good
roads work in Georgia and there is no
doubt but that Milledgeville and Bald
win county will rank right up to the
front with tho best in the state in this
respect.
Several autos from this city joined
the procession to Atlanta Tuesday and
of these Adrian Horne, driving a Cadil
lac was the first to reach the Gate City.
