currcd in Milledgeville Tuesday after
| noon when eight white men acred as
pall bearers at the funeral of an old
I negro woman. Amy Latimer, one of
j the faithful old negroes of ante-bellum
type died early Monday morning and in
recognition of her devotion several of
the leading citizens of the city organiz
ed themBelvea to arrange for her funer
al, which was held from Flagg’s chapel
Baptist church.
Mayor Miller S. Bell, Messrs. L. H.
Andrews, J. E. Kidd, Geo. P. Brantley,
N. B. Ellison, C. L. Morris, R. B.
Moore and W. W. Stembridge acted as
pallbearers. The funeral was quite
largely attended and the old woman
will be greatly missed. She had serv
ed as a nurse in tne family of each of
the gentlemen participating at the fun
eral.
