candidacy of Col. C. B. Wooten for
congress? ^
Some months ago when Cel. Woot

position it seemed to strike a popular
chord and since them a swell tide of
support" has turned in tys direction
that Is . more than encouraging to
his friends.
But the action of the district alliance
that.met at Cuthbert in naming Hon.
O. B. Stevens as their candidate, for
congress has virtually opened the
campaign and Col. Wooten’s friends
are now anxious to hear from him.
We readily understand that the ac
tion of the different counties ia select
ing their delegates to the nominating
convention i3 yet sometime distaut
but the respective candidates are ex

counties t*ke such action.
In our contact with the people we
have found a strong sentiment among
them amounting to a desire to hear
Cot. Wooten discuss the questions o!
the day and io our advocacy ot bis
claims we feel called upon to give
this condition of the public pulse. We
think it but due Col. Wooten to ap

the campaign and get ready to come
in contact with ihq£e who are so ear-

Hon. J. S. James is editor of the
Douglasville New South, the paper
V^tbatEIam Christian used to run in the
interest of the third party. Joe James
will make it Democratic to the core.:
£>. Unless the Cleyelsnl and Hill fac
tions quit their warring the Democrat
ic party will have to sacrifice both of
them and in turn be sacrificed Itself.
We are bcgltiuing to balleve that
between Larry Ganq’s efforts to go to
congress and liberate; ;teve Byau from
jail he will accomplish neither.
JudgeC. B. Wooten has held many
offices of trust and responsibility and
lifts always shown that the people
piiitoed their trust in 6 man worthy of
their confidence.

A political campaign is like an alli
