We give below an article from the

interesting reading to every citizen of
Albany._ It is as follows:
AlbatTy, Gi., March 12,—[Special.]
If you have any fear of infectious
diseases, beware of the balmy breezes
char blow from your sister city Alba
ny. There is a malady, insidious in its
approaches but assuming yearly a
more mtiignant type, that breaks out
periodically with the return of spring,
sparing neither “age, sex nor previou?
condition of servitude.” It is dubbed
Chautauqua fever, and happy are they
ho make a full surrender, realizing
that in time it will bring Its own re
ward. From every columa of our Jc-
cal papers we are urged to ‘‘make lo
engagements nor enter Into any soit
of scheme that will in any|way confl ct
with Chautauqua.” Every house
hold is beginning to wear a look cf
being swept and garnished; and even
the little bhildren hurrying by, if
questioned as to tbelr destination, will
lisp out “physical culture” in the fun
niest way imaginable.
As I glance from my window among
the exq Jiai.e flowers where spring has
run riot, clothing every spot with soft
verdure, and forcing in her jes?amiDes
and roses among the winter’s hyacinths
in all tbelr glowing beauty, I am
tempted to believe that Dame Nature,
sympathizing with the general spirit,
has baen busy in her laboratory “fix
ing for Chautauqua.” A brilliant
program has been arranged lor the ap
proaching assembly, and as the lint'
draws uear the indications point more
certainly to a large artimber In atten

her presence testifies to her apprecia

there will be many others.
