. The Flight’of a Cannon Ball.
The well known scientific photog
rapher, Ancchotz, of Liusa, has for
some> years boon experimenting in
making photographs of tho flight of
cannon balls from the instant they
leave tho muzzle of the gun to tho
time 1 of their striking the object
aimed at. After many attempts find
failures he finally succeeded in ob
taining highly interesting results,
not reaching what ho called the acme
of perfection, however, until 1890.
The plates of thiB lost mentioned
experiment wore submitted to Dr.
Koenig, of the Berlin university, who
was able to make therefrom the long
sought practical calculations. From
figures thus-deduced Dr. Koenig es
tablished the fact that the projectile
photographed’ has boon passing
through the air with a velocity of
400 meters per second, aud that the
duration of the light thrown on tho
photographic plates had not exceed
