The commonwealth will file a coun

Broke All Local Records.
Two thousand, two hundred ami
eleven bales of the lloeoy staple rolled
into Albany on Saturday.
Of that number, 1,080 bales oame on
wagons from the farms and 1,148 bales
were brought In by rati, passing through
tho compress preparatory to reshipment.
The combined reoeipts of 3,811 is a
record broakor in tho cotton history of
Albany. The market has received con
siderably more than 1,080 bales by
wogon before on n single day, and prob-
ly more than 1,143 halos by rail, bnt
never before have tho combined reoeipts
been so large on a single day.
It was a big day with tho warehouse
men, witli buyers, with the ccmpress
and with tho business Interests of the
olty generally.
Tho stook now on hand In tho ware
houses nmnnnts to 5,11)8 bales, which Is
nearly 1,080 bales more than has pro-
vionsly been held at any one time this
season.

As is the case every year, many sports
men are now disputing abont the time
for tho opening np of the season for
shooting game. For the information of
those who are in doubt abont the mat
ter, we publish the following ex:ract
from the state game law :
'‘Itshall bo nnlawfnl for any person
to shoot, trap, kill, ensnare, net or de
stroy in any manner any wild turkey,
partridge, qnal or other insectivorous or
singing bird, except English sparrows,
crows, hawks, larks, rice birds, night-
hawks and wheat birds between March
15tli and November 1.
•‘It shall bo unlawful to trap, shoot,
ensnare, kill, net or in any manner de
stroy any dove between March 15th and
Angusfe 15th.
“It shall be unlawful for any person
to huut, kill, shoot, wound, ensuare or
in any manner destroy or capture any
wild deer or fawn between January 1st
and September 1st.
“It shall be unlawful for any person
to hunt or catoh any opossum in this
state between March 1st and Oot 1st.
No provision is contained in the law
relative to shooting rabbits in the state.
