has made it our duty to investigate; the

ROADS AND 11RIDOKS.
We find all the roads in the eastern
part of the county in fair oondition, ex
cept the following: { On the,Albany and
Isabella road weifind 'one bridge in bad
oondition near John W. Johnson's plane
Also tho river road leading north from
Albnny through D. L. WooteD'e plaoe,
above Plney Woods oreek, needing at
tention.
Also, the road between Worth and
Dougherty be worked and opened at
ones, The road from the Orossland
Place to Gravel Hill we recommend that
it be opened from 30 feet to SO feet In
the western portion of the oounty ws
find tho roads in fair oondition as far as
known, the oommittee being nnable to
go (over them in person. We (further
recommend that all roods that have not
been worked be attended to as early aB
possible.
PUBLIC BUILDINGS,
We recommend that the vaoont port
of the jail lot be oleened off, graded and
a bfiok ooplng placed aronnd the same.
Upon examination of the publio build
ings, we find the jail In good oondition.
We recommend that the County Com
missioners have blinds plaoed in reel
denoe portion and a shed on north and
■oath side. We find the oonrt house
old, and wonld suggest that only neoea-
sary repairs be made on same.

POOR HOUSE, PAUPERS AND CHAIN-HAND.
In the poor honse we find six inmate*,
one male and five females—twojwhite—
three oolored. The houses and premises
are in good condition. The inmates are
prorided with all necessary comforts.
We find the number of eonviots now
in the oonnty ohaln-gang to be (28)
twenty-etghtgin number, (26) twenty-
six males and (2) two females. All are
In healthy oondition. The stockade and
buildings, and promisee generally, are
neatly kept, showing good and efficient
management of the superintendent.

oity, who was compelled to ask a leave

coant of failing health early in the sum
mer, encourage tho hope that he will
soon be with his people Again, He has
boon a very elok man and has snbmitted
to two or three surgical operations dar
ing his absenoe, bat the latest report*
received from him are altogether hope
ful. His people will be rejoiced to have
him reBtoied to health and with them,
again.

Mrs. John O. Lehman, and a bright,
