SUPERIOR COURT NEXT WEEK
Houston Superior Court will
Convene next Monday October
3rd for its regular Fall session.
Tbe first week will be devoted, to
trial ef Oivel Case and the work of
the Grand Jury.
There are 50 Civel cases on the
Calendar all set for trial, Monday
October 3rd, though it is doubtful
if the Calendor can be completed
in one day. Up to this time there
are thirty four worrents to be
presented to the Grand Jury.

George Washington Humphreys
aged 61 veteran negro school teach
er died at his home here last Tues
day September 22nd. Humphreys
was regarded as a leader of his
race, in this section having dp-
voted the greater part of his life
in tne work of school, church and
other agencens for the betterment
of his people. He was a teacher in
this county for 45 year* , a great
part at which was in the negro
school at New Hope.

well the colored people among
whom he labored and his death is
cause for regret in the community.
