—Mrs. Leila Tounsley was car
ried to the hospital in Valdosta
Monday. Her many friends wish
for her a speedy recovery.

Junior Womens’ club of State
Normal college, Athens, will join
Mrs. Wartlien in Atlanta and af
ter leaving Rome they will visit
in La Fayette and Chattanooga.

The beautiful bride-to-be was
lovely in a new fall model of dark
blue, elaborately embroi d e r e d.
With this she wore a most becom
ing grey hat and grey slippers.

The Clinton 0. Duncan Chapter
U. D. G-, held its regular meeting
Wednesday Oct., loth at the home
of the President, Mrs* R. L. Cater
with a full attendance.
After business was transacted
the social feature was conducted
in honor of Misses Katharine and
Clifford Holtzclaw, who, while on
a visit here to their old home
town are yet members of our
chapter. Their Btay here will be
concluded when Clifford becomes
the bride of Mr. James William
Blanks on Oct*, 20fch, wkich will
remove her to her new home in
Virginia. We regret this loss but
aar loss is his gain. X
Mrs. A B Schilling, age 85 died
,ii her home in perry Monday night
October I5ili- Funeral services
were conducted at the home Tues
day afternoon at 2:30 o’clock and
ourial was at Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs. Schilling who was born in
Germany, came to America in ear
ly girlhood. In July 10, 1858 she
was married t« a Barney Schilling
at New York and in 1861 came to
perry to join her husband who
came here to engage in business in
September 1860 and had lived here
constantly ever since.
She was married 65 years ago
and of that union there were 12
children, 7 of whom are now liv
ing.
Of the family surviving her
there are besides her husband,now
nearly 87 years old, five duaghters

R Sims of Barnesville, Mrs Geo D
Driggers of Perry, Mrs N W Jor
dan of Fort Valley, and two sons,
Messrs Rudolph and Fred Schill
ing. There are also 15 grand
children and seven great grand
children.
Mrs Schilling was the oldest
woman in perry, if not in the
county, and the long years of hap
py married life makes a record
that is most remarkable
Numerous friends sympathize
with the husband in the loss of a
companion of so many long years
and with the family in the loss of
a loved one.
BOY SCOUTS TROOP ONE
The Boy Scouts of Troop 1 held
their meeting last Thursday Oct.,
11, 1923. We had several new
Scouts at the meeting, Louiq Gil
bert, Emmett Johnson, Coleman
Strother, and Parks Houser.
. The business of the meeting was
as follows; To elect a Scribe and
to assign to the Scouts their du
ties for the Scout Rally October
27th. Following aro the contests
and Scouts wbo are going to win
them all for Perry at Eastman. •

HRS- TOM BAILEY ENTERTAINS
Mrs. Tom Bailey entertained
with a lovely sewing party Thurs
day morning in honor of Miss Clif
ford Holtzclaw, a bride-to-be.
The living room where the guests
were served was aglow with bas
kets and vases of yellow cosmas.
Mrs. Bailey was assisted in en-
tertainiug by Mesdames hT Gil
bert and George Nunn. At noon
a delicious luncheon Was served.

ADJOURNED TERM SUPERIOR
COURT
The adjorned term of Superior
court will convene Monday for a
two weeks session to complete a
big calendar of criminal cases left
over from the regular session.
Judge Malcolm Jones will preside.
The calendar contains 79 cases,
the largest in mat y ye irs, set for {
four days next v eek and three
days the week followiug.
The oases for trial include 1 for
murder, 11 for burglary, 8 for as
sault with intent to murdwr and
12 for manufacturing whiskey.

OCT. 22-27.
The Georgia State Exposition
to he held iu Macon during the
Week of Ootober 22nd to 27th
promises to he one of the best
State Fairs ever held in the Cen
tral City.
A wonderful programme of di»
versified entertainment has been
arranged by the Fair Management
including novel and unique open
air attractions, day and night con
otuts by the Royal Scotch High
landers Band, Texas Wolf, Jack
Rabbit and Grey Hound Races,
automobile races by world famous
drivers, Collegiate Football game
and spectacular fireworks displays
nightly*
Agricultural exhibits and die
plays will embtace counties from
the varrous sections of ttao state.
The poultry show under the au
spices of the Georgia Poultry
Breeders Association will be one
the features of this year’s fair* In
the live stock department famous
herds of stock from Georgia and
other states will compete for hon
ors. This department will em>
brace herds of the dairy cattle
olass, and also the beef cattle class
Herds of swine in the various pop
ular classes will be on exhibit.
A carload of government dis
plays has been reoeived for this
fair and the womans department
and boys and girls clnb exhibits
will feature novel contests and
exhibits.
The railroads of the state are of
fering reduced rate to Maoon dur
ing the week of the fair and im
mense crowds from all over this
section will visit the Georgia
State Exposition Oct, 22nd to
27th. The fair grounds a n d
buildings at the Central City
Park have been put in first class
condition for the fair and all ar
rangements for staging a real live
exposition are rapidly nearing
completion*
