The tax receiver having filed his digest for the year 1923, the court proceeded
to leavy a county tax for the iear 1923.
The aggrui. ite value of the taxab e roperty on the digest of 1923 is $5,066,-

The Court was officially informed that the grand jury of Houston Superior
Court, m session lit the time of milking l Ids levy had passed a resolution recom
mending the building of a new jail for Houston County.
It was thereupon ordered that a lax of four-tenths of one per cent, or four
mills, be levied upon all Qi«’- taxable property of Houston County, ou the digest
and not on the digest, for a road fund to he used for working and maintaining the
public roads of Houston Dounty,
It was further ordered that an additional tax of thirteen and one-half mills
be levied upon all the taxable property of Houston County, ou the digest and not
on the digest, tor all the oiher sev< rul county purposes for which the law*
authorizes and directs oounty authorities lolevy taxes, said tax of 18# mills to bo
levied for aim divid among the several county purposes us follows:
1 To pay the legal indebtedness of the
county, duo and to become due and past due
2, l‘o Build and repair courihouses and
jails bridges and ferries, and ot her public
improvements
5. To pay sheriffs, jailers and othfer officers fees
that they may be legally entitled to out of the
county
4, To pay coroners all fees that may be duo
them for holdjng inquests
6. To pay the expenses of tile county for bailiffs
at court, non-resident witnesses in criminal cases

7. To pay expenses incurred in supporting the
poor of the county, and as otherwise prescribed

The Board of Education of Houston County having recommended the follow-'
ing tax for a public school fund for the year 1983:
It was odrered that a tax of five-tenths qf one per cent, or five mills, be levied
upon all taxable property of Houston County, on the digest und not on the digest
outside the corporate limits of Perry and Fort Valley, to supplement the public
school fund apportioned to all of Houston County, except said corporate limits of
Perry and Port Vslley.
The Board of Trustee* of Byron Consolidated School District having r*eomm*nd«

he levied upon all the taxable property of the Byron Consolidated School District

of school bonds for said district.
