PEACH GROWERS PERFECT LOCAL
ASSOCIATION
At a meeting of peach growers
of the Perry District here Satur
day morning the Local Associa
tion of the Georgia Peach Growers
Exchange perfected their orga
nization and enrolled a number of
now members.
On motion Mr J W Hodge was
elected Director to the Georgia
Peach Growers Exchange, the
parent association through which
the local organization will func
tion.
The directors of the local associa
tion elected are M A Smith, Gro-
vania It U Howard, Kathleen J
W Hodge Henderson, R E Harper
add S P Houser Perry. The Presi
dent and Secretary were made ex-
officio members of tho local’ body.
The members of the local asso
ciation now number 80 which is
about 50 percent of the growers
in the Perry district but new
members are being enrolled and it
is anticipated that 95 per cent of
the growers will come into the
association,
The Georgia Peach Grovers Ex-
Change iB a Co operation marketing
association which is to re-place
the old Georgia Fruit Ex-change
and it is believe will be even more
successful in serving the growers
than was the older association.
The function of the association
is to grade the products and, mar
ket them so that the growers shall
receive the best possible price for
their products but other features
will be added later, so that iinan
cial aid will be avaiable to grower
member in masketing their

Among the cases disposed of this
week were cases of Chas. Evans Jr
John Evans and Will roomer
charged with burglary, and Chas
Eva Sr., charged with having
liquor iu his possession. All these
defendents were found not guilty

ed with murder was in progress
Wednesday.
The records show the present
criminal docket to be one oi the
largesc in the history of Houston
county superior eourt. There were
eleven prohibition indictments at
the October term of the grand
jury, 14 burglary cases, 14 crimes
of, violence, four murder cases aud
six assault to murder.
Among tho cases disposed of
during last week were: Talmadge
Ooley, charged with murder, found
guilty of killing his wife and sen
tenced to servo from 15 to 20 years
George Hill found guilty of
murder in connection with tin
death of Miller, was given a life
sentence. After the alleged mur
der, Hill escaped and enjoyed
liberty for two and a ,half years in
Florida.
John Dessau, found guilty
shooting a another, was given
one year. Tillie Smith, tried on the
same offense, gob from two
throe years. Frank Harvey. Hess
Ford and Tom Jackson charged
with gaming, were found $100
each or six months. Emmett King
charged with violating the profci
bition law, was fined $400 er 12
months ,Colfax Smith, charged
with using profane language in
the preseuce of females, was fined
$300 or six months,
Joe Ross, charged with burglar

erett. ai Wei Is ton, was given from
five to ten years, Henry Mallory
oharged with entering the home
of O J Bateman, was given from
five to seven years.
