Perryan Joins Honor Society
Wanda Farr, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Audrey Farr of Elko,
Georgia, was recently initiated into membership in the Sigma Chapter of
Alpha Beta Gamma at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton.

(right), President of ABAC. Wanda is majoring in Computer Science.
Alpha Beta Gamma is a national honor society for business majors.
Membership is limited to students who have an overall grade average of

commander. Crowley
will advise the squadron

Making His Mark
As Band Director

making a name for
himself as a band
director in Americus, as
the following article from
the Americus (Ga.)

Bruce is a graduate of
Perry High School, where
he was active in the band
squadron vice com
mander; Bart Burnette,
information staff officer;

staff officer; David
George, finance staff
officer, and Donald

mander.

Staley Junior High
School band competed
recently in the Third
District Band Festival
held in Columbus and
returned home with the
highest ratings awarded
at the festival.
The 130-member band,
under the direction of
Bruce Fisher, band
master, competed in
three categories and was
awarded an overall total
ot five "Superiors” in the
three areas which in
cluded prepared music,
sight reading, and overall
rating.
This is the first year
Staley Junior High band
has had a full-fledged
band and could enter into
competition. The band is
composed of seventh and
eighth grade students.
Fisher, a native of
Perry, is in his first year
as band director at Staley
Junior High. "I am very
proud of the band
members and the
tremendous effort they
have put forth this year,"
Fisher commented. "The
district in which they
competed in Columbus is
one of the toughest in the
state and their win of five
superior ratings is out
standing," the band
director added with
pride.
Fisher is a graduate of
Middle Georgia College
in Cochran and Georgia
College in Milledgeville.
Under his direction this
year the junior high band
performed in three half
time shows at junior high
football games as well as
marching in the Att. Gen.
Griffin Bell homecoming
parade. They also par
ticipated in the Albany
Shriner Parade,
Americus Christmas
parade, and Perry
Christmas parade.
Andy Cashwell is the
band drum major and
section leaders include
Ray Greene, Margaret
Walker, Tony Morris,
Ben Carter, Pat
Shumake, Suzi Bell,
Connie Fussell, Jimmy
White, Wayne Counts,
and Stanley Paschel.
