Sr. at the Beulah Retreat
and Conference, Silver
City, North Carolina on
Saturday, October 20,
1979.
The Rev. Kenneth
Edwards performed the
double ring ceremony at
two o’clock in the af
ternoon. A program of
wedding music was
provided by the Retreat
String Ensemble and
Miss Gloria Jackson of
Durham, soloist.
The ceremony took
place in a beautiful
outdoor setting. The
bridal path was
decorated with autumn
foliage and multi-colored
chrysanthemums. On
either side of the arch
stood an arrangement of
autumn flowers. The
couple knelt for prayer at
a wooden altar laid with a
white pillow.
David Harris of Chapel
Hill, N.C. stood with the
groom as best man. The
groomsmen were the
groom’s brothers,
Michael Howell of Nash
ville, Tenn. and Duane
Howell of Durham, N.C. ,
Byron Horton of
Cleveland, Ohio, Anthony
Green of Gainesville,
Fla., and Franklin Dais
of Durham, N.C.
The bride was attended
by Mrs. Linda Sermons of
Augusta as matron of
honor and Ms. Linda
Porter of Durham, N.C.
as maid of honor. The
bridesmaids were the
bride’s sister, Ms. Elsie
M. Owens of Perry, the
groom’s sister, Miss
Temple Howell of
Goldsboro. N.C. and Ms.
Pauline Dawson of
Macon. Little Miss Tonia
D. Owens of Waycross,
neice of the bride, was
flower girl.
The honor attendants
wore street length
dresses of burgundy knit
with wlldrose print
overskirts. The
bridesmaids were attired
in maroon knit dresses
with solid wildrose
overskirts. They wore
flowers in their hair and
carried nosegays of
autumn flowers.
The bride, given in
marriage by her father,
chose a traditional gown
of satin and lace styled
with an empire bodice
and round neckline. The
long full sleeves ended at
the wrist with a wide cuff
of lace. Her matching veil
was attached to a cap of
lace and seed pearls and
was edged with dainty
lace. She carried a
bouquet of white flowers.
Mrs. Owens chose a
street length dress of
maroon knit with mat
ching accessories and a
white carnation corsage.
The groom’s mother,
Mrs. Howell, was attired

Troutdale.
The future bride’s
grandparents are Mr.
Arthur Hansom and the
late Mrs. Hansom of
Denver, Colorado and
Mrs. Melvin Sandwich
and the late Mr. Sand
wich of Portland, Oregon.
She graduated from
tiered wedding cake. She
was assisted by Sharon
Raye. Mary Jones served
punch.
When the couple left for
a wedding trip to Florida,
the bride was wearing a
maroon suit with mat
ching accessories and a
corsage of yellow mums.
Mr. and Mrs. Howell
will reside in Tampa, Fla.
where she is employed by
Northside Community
Mental Health Center as
an occupational therapist
and he is employed at the
University of South
Florida.
Reynolds High School in
Troutdale, Oregon.
The groom’s grand
parents are the late Mr.
and Mrs. Claude Pittman
of Cartersville, Georgia
and Mrs. Lloyd Ferguson
and the late MnFerguson
of Dawson, Georgia. He
graduated from Perry
High School, Perry,
Georgia and attended the
University of Georgia. He
is living in Long Beach.
California and is a
member of the ‘‘Midnight
Riders” band.
The ceremony will take
place on December 26th
at the home of the
groom’s parents in
Perry.
