What docs it take to launch a
rocket? Some Perry High School
ROTC members are going to try
and find out.

Yoder states the rocketry club is be
ing formed at the request of cadets.
The purpose of the club is to
acquire an understanding of rockets
and aerodynamics.

Recruit Training Command, Great

During the cycle, recruits arc
taught general military subjects de
signed to prepare them for further
academic and on-the-job training in
one of the Navy's 85 occupational
fields.
Studies include seamanship,
close-order drill, naval history and
first aid. 1

rocket launched, members will first
need to learn the fundamentals of
rocketry, be tested on this knowl
edge, take a safety code exam and
then begin work on the rockets.
The model rockets the club is

three or four launches a year. He
explained there would be eight
officers assigned to each launch and
stressed the importance of launch
safety. Rockets will be launched
only after a safety officer has com
pleted a check of the launching pad,
rocket and remote firing device.
