piled by Senior Planner David
Shaw for land located near Perry

The provisions discussed give

acres. However, developers would
be able to build more developments
on the remaining 6.7 acres.

the commission the provisions
made the developers give up too
much open space, and they need to
create a zoning for smaller lot sizes.
Commission Chairman Martin
Bccland said the commission needed
to meet with developers to find out
if this plan would be appealing for
development.
Building Inspector Bill
Chambless said, "We just don't

A special workshop to discuss

L.A. McConnell Jr.

just got to decide how we're going
to do it."
Commission Chairman Sherrill
Stafford said, "It will cost us about
520,000 to provide for the security
requested. We will use not one per
son, but a number of people (on a
part-time basis)."
Stafford said he and
Commissioner Calvin Mayc will
meet with die Sheriffs Department
and "work out the deutils."
He said, "We'll hopefully do it
by next Tuesday."

NOTICE TO ALL
DO-IT-YOURSELF HOMEOWNERS, CONTRACTORS
AND BUILDING SUPPLIERS
The rules and regulations that affect the building industry, including contractors, homeowners,
building material suppliers, etc. are becoming more complex and are constantly being
amended and changed to the extent that those affected by them are faced with a difficult task
of knowing who regulates them, how they are regulated and when did it happen.
By this action I am requesting that those interested in obtaining a summarized list of the current
construction codes in force and classifications of State licensed contractors should come by the
City of Perry Planning and Zoning Office. Through this information it is my intent to keep
contractors and the general public better informed. Your comments and concerns pertaining
to this information will be welcomed and appropriately responded to.

tive of the Sheriffs Department to
review the situation next Tuesday
afternoon. He said, "We're still
seeking input from the govern
ment."
The Georgia Fire Insurance of

necessary improvements at the
Houston County jail to make it
safe. The commission was told it
will be cheaper to build a new jail
by an outside expert.
