Typographical Errors.
There is a subtle vein of humor
in the story of the editor who
wrote during an election: “The
battle is now opened.” The com
positor spelled “battle” with an
“o,” and the other side said, of
course, they had suspected it from
the first.
It was by a similar mistake
that the late Baker Pasha, who
might fairly be described as a
“battle scared veteran,” was called
a “battle scared veteran,” the
libel being by no means purged
when the newspaper called the
gallant officer a “bottle scared
veteran,”

The constitution thatt has been
broken down or weakened by long
standing disorder in the liver or kid
neys is ill fitted to withstand the en
croachments of disease. Such a person
takes cold easily, cannot stand fatigue,
and in cases of epidemics, is the first
to fall a victim. The proper course is
to remove the cause of the weakness by
treating the liver and kidneys. Dr. J.
H. McLean’s Liver and Kidney Balm
will reach the seat of trouble and re
store the diseased organs to healthy
functional activity. Increased nourish
ment of the bodv will follow and the
patient will rapidly regain health and
strength. Price $1.00 a bottle.

He was crying but he finally

“I wish I was a girl.”
“Why do you wish you were a

mainly responsible for the tears.

realizing how great the truth he
had hit upon.—-Chicago Post.

Human Timepiece.
The death of Andrew Hender
son at Zanesville, O., recently re
moved one of the most excep
tional characters in Ohio. Hen
derson was a colored man and had
been a slave before the war. He
was a human timepiece. Hender
son from birth was possessed of
the peculiar faculty of being able
to tell the exact time of day with
out consulting a timepiece or the
position of the sun. When accos
ted to tell the time* he would
place his hand to his ear and in a
moment give the time. lie said
that by the exertion of his own
will when he placed his hand to
his ear a whirling sound would
come in his head, and, like an
electric flash, the correct time
would flash through his mind.
Henderson said that his mother
before his birth had a premonition
that he would possess some won
derful gift of nature.—St. Louis

How to Look Good.
Good looks are really more than skin
deep, depending entirely on a healthy
condition of all the vital organs. If
the liver be inactive, you have a bilious
look; if your stomach be disordered you
have a dyspeptic look: if your kidneys
be affected, you have a pinched look.
Secure good health and you will have
good looks. “Electric Bitters” is a
good Alterative and Tonic. Acts di
rectly on the stomach, liver and kidneys.
Purifies the blood, cures pimples,
blotches and boils, and gives a good
complexion. Every bottle guaranteed.

His Notion of It,
“Why,” she asked, “do so many
of the poets write about goldenrod?
It seems as if every ond of them
had tried to gloryfy it.”
“Well,” replied the man who
had worked on a farm, “the only
explanation I can give is that the
poets probably never tried to raise
potatoes in a field where golden-
rod had got a good start.”—
Cleyeland Leader.
An Uncertain Disease.
There is no disease more uncertain in its
nature than dyspepsia. Physicians say that
the symptoms of no two cases agree, it is
therefore most difficult to make a correct
diagnosis. No matter how severe, or under
what disguise dyspepsia attacks, you. Browns’
Iron Bitters will cure it. Invaluable in all
diseases of the stomach, blood and nerves.
Browns’ Iron Bitters is sold by all dealers.

The Prayer Fitted.
At a church in Lenox last sum
mer the pulpit was supplied by an
assistant clergy. One Sunday in
the course of bis sermon this min
ister told how a man had amassed
a large amount of money simply
by prayer, going on to give the in
cidents of the case. A titter ran
through the congregation when
the minister, after dwelling on the
fact that prayer alone had brought
about this man’s fortune, placed
his hands together and, looking
upward in a yery prayerful atti
tude, said, 4 ‘Lord, teach us how to
