county are requested to meet with the
Daughters of the Confederacy and the
Sons of Confederate. Veterans in a
uiiited assembly in Gainesville on Feb

ing prevented the celebration on Jan
uary B9th, his birthday.
An attractive program will be ar
ranged. The hour and place of meet
ing will be announced later. The ulti
mate object is to provide means with
which to erect a confederate monument.
Let everybody lend a helping hand.
J. B. Estes,
Captain Com. Longstreet Camp.

fied and raquested to meet at the court

ANNOUNCEMENTS.
CLERK SUPERIOR COURT.
I have decided to make the race for
Clerk of the Superior Court of Hall
county. I make this announcement
subject to the will of the Democratic
party, and will cheerfully abide by its
action. James T. Chamblee.
Exposure to Disease.
This does not necessarily mean the
contraction of disease provided the
system is in a vigorous condition, with
the blood pure and all the organs in
healthy action. When in such a con
dition contagion is readily resisted and
the disease germs can find no room for
lodgment. Hood’s Sarsaparilla is the
best medicine to build up the system
because it makes pure, rich blood., and
pure blood is the basis of good health
In Cold weather it is especially neces
sary to keep up the health tone because
the body is subject to greater exposure
and more liable to disease. Hood’s
Sarsaparilla is the safeguard of health.
They are Thankful
Editor Cracker: Please allow the
undersigned spaee in your columns to
thank those ladies and gentlemen who
voluntarily gave the “Deestiict Sfeule”
for the benefit of the Seminary Library
on Friday night of last week. A hand
some sum was realized, $73.19, which
will be immediately invested in good
books. While we appreciate the en
tertainment from a financial point of
view, the kindly feeling which prompt
ed it and the many expressions of good
will, for our work is valued far more
highly than the dollars and cents
which were turned over to us. We are
striving to build a great library here
for the girls of to-day and for those
who are to come hereafter. This means
that thousands of dollars must be raised
by some means, and we are glad to
know that .the citizens of Gainesville
are in sympathy with the movement
and will help us‘ raise the amount.
Already we have put between four and
five hundred dollars into the Library
this year. To Dr. Winburn, Mr. and
Mrs. T. M. Bell, Judge and Mrs. Estes
aud all who assisted in the entertain
ment, and to the large audience who
helped to make it a success by their
attendance, we return our sincere
thanks. A. W. Van Hoo.se,
H. J. Pearce.
