Adjourned meeting of council called
to order by Mayor R. D. Mitchell. Al
dermen present, J. M. Hubbard, P. N.
Parker, T. V. Eberhardt, B. B. Landers,
J. R.'Martin and L. D. Puckett. The
mayor was, on motion, authorized to
borrow $2,500 for the purpose of taking
up bond coupons, due on Jan. 1st, 1901.
The following Ordinance was read
first time and on .motion the rules
were suspended and after the sec
ond reading passed:
An Ordinance to fix the Annual and
Spicific Taxes of the city of Gaines
ville on business occupations for the
year 1901 and to provide for the col
lection of the same, licensing 1 said
. occupations and professions.
Section 1. Be it ordained by the
Mayor and Council of the city of Gaines
ville and it is hereby ordained by the
authority of the same,
n That upon every person^ persons or
corporation exercising within said
City during the year 1901-, per annum
either of the following occupation^,or
professions, the following specific tax
shall be levied and collected: said tax
to be due and paid upon the commence
ment of each quarter, unless otherwise
provided for in this Ordinance.

without complying with the
provisions on the - subject of

contained in Sections 256 and
257 of the city code of Gaines-
* vilie. The oath, provided in
said section may be taken by
any member of a firm apply

corporation by the president, or
• by the agent or officers of the
. corporation who have charge of
said tables. That the provisions
of sections 250 to 260 inclusive
of the city code of Gainesville
are hereby made applicable to
all keepers ot tables taxed or
provided for in. the ordinance.
