Jefferson & Southern railroad
bonds of the city of Gainesville,
was readr first time. The rules
were suspended, and, after reads
ing a second"time, the ordinance
was passed.
Be it ordained from and after
the passage of this ordinance, as
followss:
Whereas* forty bonds of the city
of Gainesville, of the denomina
tion of five hundred dollars each,
issued by authority of the

the rate of four and one-fourth
per cent, pier annum, which inter
est shall be payable on the first
days of January and July of each
year, and shall be evidenced by
coupons attached to said bonds,
sixty in number, for $21,25 each,
and numbered from one to sixty,
inclusive.
The principal and interest oh
each bond shall be payable in gold
coin of the United States of Amer
ica, 6f the present standard- of
Weight and fineness, or its equiv
alent, and the proceeds of said sale
of said bonds shall be applied only
to the payment of maturing bonds

gust 19th, 1881; and, whereas, on'
the seventh day of June, 1900,

the new bonis from fifty^bonds to
thirty bonds of one thousand dol
lars each, and expressly limiting
said issue of bonds at that date to
the amount necessary to take up
the bonds maturing July 1st, 1900,
and postponing the tissue of the
twenty last bonds of one thousand
dollars each, for the purpose of re
funding the bouds due July 1st,
1901, until said bonds should be
come due; and, whereas, said
thirty thousand dollars of four
and one-foarth per cent, bonds,
have been duly issued and sold,
and said first issue of thirty thou
sand dollars has been paid off and
cancelled; and, whereas, said re
maining twenty thousand dollars
of bonds will fall due July 1st,
1901, and it
