Martin & Hunt’s, is to go tonight (Sat-
! urday) to the lucky man, at Hunt s
opera house. She is a beauty, and the
man who gets her will have a dandy.
“Kitty P.”has been admired by every
body who has seen her, and Martin &
Hunt will pay 5350 to the man who
wins her, if he wants to sell. She is *a
full blooded, thoroughbred, and her
gaits are perfect. The winner of this
fine mare will be announced in our next

Quarterly Conference at Hopewell,
Bey. Walker Lewis, presiding elder
of the Gainesville district, North Geor
gia conference, Methodist Episcopal
Church South, will be at Hopewell on
Monday week, April the 8th. to preach
and hold the second quarterly confer
ence of the Hall circuit. He is a fine
preacher and should be welcomed by a
large audience. Quarterly conferences
on the circuits are generally delightful
occasions, both religiously and socially.
The people gather from different parts
of the work, hear a sermon in the fore
noon, after which they mute in a bas
ket dinner. When this is over they re
pair the church and hold the confer
ence.

The marriage of Mr. Jack Rogers and
Miss Emma Hulsey will take place next
Wednesday afternoon, at 4 o’clock, at
the home of the bride’s father, Mr. T,
N. Hulsey, in upper Hall. Both young
people afe very popular,'and have hosts
of friends throughout the county. The
groom is one of the most successful
planters in the county, and his friends
extend to him, in advance of the mar

thumbs? There was a man here yes
terday who had three, two of which"
were on his right hand. They were
perfectly formed and were of normal
size. The man was John Ridley, a
young white man who resides in Lump
kin county, near Dahlouega. The ex
tra thumb does not give him any in
convenience he says, but it makes his
hand look a little odd.
