Excursion to Tallnlat Falls.
The Gainesville, Jefferson and South
ern Railway, The Southern Raiway and
Tullulah Falls Railway will open
the excursion season for 1901 with
one of their pupular priced trips,
all stations, to beautiful, cromantic
Tallulah Falls Wednesday, May 1st.
The excursion will be for white people
only and will be a personally conducted
train, particular atetntion will be given
the ladies and children and everything
necessary to make the occasion pleasant
and enjoyable will be done.'£-7
Special train will leave Social Circle
at 7.10 a. in.. Monroe, 7.50, Winder,
S.40, Mulberry, 9.00, Hoschton, 9.15.
Jefferson, 7.10. Pendergrass, 7.35,
Gainesville, via Southern Railway,
10.35, arrive at the Falls, 11.00. Return
ing, leave the Falls ac 6.00 p. m.. and
Gainesville at 8.30 giving everyone an
opportunity to view this Georgia won
der and enjoy seven hours in the ‘’Blue
Ridge.”

Our settlement has two as good
doctors, we believe, as there is in_
the State of Georgia. Of course
thev live in Hoschton, four miles
of us, but they are our physicians,
Dr. L- C. Allen and Dr. W. P.
DeLaperriere. It is a rare treat
to have two such fine doctors to
practice in the country.
There was public exercises at
the Academy Friday evening, and
those that excelled in their grades
are: 1st Grade, Miss Onnie Bow
man; 2nd Grade, Miss Clara Tea
gle; 8rd Grade, Miss Ada Lott;
4th Grade, Miss Mollis.Cash; 5th
Grade, Dee Smith; 6th Grade,
Earnest Morris. School closed
yesterday, the 12th, until first
Monday m July.
A big Easter dinner was given
at Mr. W. W. Luther’s on last
Sunday. Everything good to eat
was prepared for the occasion.

Ben Braseiton and wife of Thomp
son Mills; Mr. Thomas Cooper
and wife of Chestnut Mountain;
Mr. Andrew Deaton of near Oak-
wood; Mr. Thomas Deaton of

regular appointments last Satur

Mr. J. C. Boggus and family of
Lula, visited Mr. L. Kirkley of
Gillsville, last Sunday.
Mr. Allen Carter and family
and Mr. Ira Carter and wife of
Bellton, were the guests of Mr.
and Mrs. S. B. Carter last Sun
day.
Mr. William Gunter and Miss
Louie Williams of Maysville,
came up to hear Brother C. T.
Brown preach last Sunday morn
ing, and later, had the knot tied
‘‘according to Gunter.” Our best
wishes to the young couple.
Miss Eula Chandler has charge
of Mr. George Holcomb’s; school
for a few days.
Mr. Geo. W. Holcomb, «who is
teaching school at Diamond Hill,
was married at that place to Miss

Dr. Dixon to Build New Home.
Dr. E. E. Dixon will erect a hand
some home at Academy and Race
streets, where his present residence is
located. This, he will move to the
vacant lot on Race street, where Mrs.
Williams formerly lived. Mr. John A.
Pierce has been given the contract to
build the new house, which* will be
handsome, convenient and commodious.
For sometime Dr. Dixon has had in
contemplation the erection of a new
home, but it was only reeantly that he
decided to build now. His new home
will add materially to the appearance
of this already pretty locality.

noon, attending Sunday school,
with his best girl.

. To Deliver Addres.
Col. W. B. Sloan of Gainesville, has
accepted an invitation to deliver the
annual address at the Odd Fellows’ cel
ebration at Oak Grove, April 26th., at
which time four lodges join together in
celebrating the, 82nd. anniversary of
the order. The occasion promises to be
an interesting one, and Col. Sloan will
treat the Odd Fellows to a splendid ad-
drese.

Mrs. Annie Sanford Cochrane of Gain
esville, was given a total divorce from
her husband, Mr. J. M. Cochrane, and
he was likewise given a total divorce
from her. Mrs. Cochrane resumes her
maiden name, and will be known hence
