Miss Victoria. The marriage was
solemnized on first Sunday, Rev.
L. J. Duncan joining the happy
couple together. Very few were
present. The contracting parties
kept their nerve up very well,-but j
some of the family were very much j
excited and some were not present j
at all. We wish them much joy.
The measles are breaking out
around here. There are several
people sick and there may be more
yet to come.
Mr. Steve Gailey has made an
attempt to clip those lambs. He
found the old mammy lamb to be
in bad condition for clipping, and
he certainly did not succeed in
getting the fleece.
Rev. W. E. Watkins and sister,
Miss Lossie, were the guests ot Mr.
M. K. Woodal and family recently.
Rev. W. E- Watkins, pastor of
Enon church, delivered a very in
teresting sermon, at our regular
meeting on first Sunday, to a large
congregation. His text was from
Collosians, i, 19-22, and he made
fitting points concerning the tak
ing of the Lord’s supper, which
followed the sermon.
Revs. Joseph Logging and John
McCollum were with-us as visitors
on the first. !

killed a dozen or two. It appears
that he is somewhat out with the
imartins now. .

I The Knights of Pythias held their
picnic at the old fair grounds last Wed
nesday, and a good time was had by all
who were present. A number of visi
tors were present from Monroe, Win-
derand Jefferson. Interesting speeches
were made by Hon. H. P. Bell of Cnm-
ming, and Col. J. C. Boone of Gaines
ville. A big basket dinner was spread,
and everybody had a bountif nl supply
of good things to fill the inner man.
Good music was furnished by the
Queen City band, and, all in all, the
j picnic was a most delightful one.

Felton, of Macon, presiding.

This will
the third lime Fellows has faced a
jury and answered to the charge of
rape.
The first trial resulted in his
conyic-
| tion and he was sentenced to death. A
| new trial was granted him and he was
| tried at the regular term of Jackson
Qourt several months since, the jury di
viding and the judge ordering a mis
trial, when they failed to-agree.
The crime with which Fellows stands
charged is a very heinous due. He has
from the beginning stoutly maintained
that he was innocent, and his conten
tion is that he was not pr.esent vyhen
the crime was committed, but, on the
contrary, was in another county. A
stubborn fight will be waged next week
in the trial of this case between the at
torneys for the state and the defense.
