Miss Georgia Dixon Hurt.
Miss Georgia Dixon was quite pain
fully hurt last Monday morning, by be
ing hit in the head with a hammer,
which accidentally slipped from the
hand of a carpenter at work at her
father's home on Race street. The man
was driving a block with his hammer,
and, glancing around for a moment, he
missed the object and the hammer flew
with terrific force to where the young
lady was standing, a few feet away,
striking her on the right forehead and
glancing around and again striking her
on the left side-. She was carried to
Mrs. Mattie Merritt’s, where Dr. Dixon
and family are boarding while their
home is being moved, and careful at
tention has brought her around all
right. It was feared for awhile that
the blow would produce concussion of
the brain, but, fortunately, this was
averted, and she will soon he herself
again.

“Uncle- Dick” Hulsey was in town
Tuesday and of course had a pleasant
word for all his friends. : He is living
quietly on his farm and does not com^e
to town as often as he used to. ‘‘Uncle
Dick” told his friends a little hog tale
while here, which is as true as gospel,
and which only goes to show that farm
ers should devote more of their atten
tion to the live stock industry. He had
one sow which bore him three jitters of*
eleven pigs each in twelvemonths time.
Some of the pigs were sold when small
while the others were allowed to grow
large before being sold. The whole
outlay brought “Uncle Dick” $106, the
net profit of which was $70. There was
but little trouble in looking after these
pigs and they were fed principally on
slops, with a small amount of corn. Is
n’t $70 a year a pretty good profit on
one hog? Others might follow “Uncle
Dick’s” example with profit.
