Why Not Raise Turkeys In Geor
gia.
Somebody has estimated that
not less than 50,628,603 pounds of
turkeys were “sacrificed , on the
Thanksgiving altar” last Thurs
day. How many of these turkeys
wereJGeorgia raised? We should
say, roughly estimating, probably
the odd 600 pounds. Most ot -the
turkeys that were^eaten in Geor
gia cities and towns on ^Tbanks-
giving day were imported into the
state^ many from as far away as
Virginia, Maryland and Missouri.
Many hundreds . of dollars were
sent out of the state to pay for
them, and not only turkeys, but
chickens, ducks, geese and eggs
were brought from a distance. Is
there any good reason why all this
money should not be kept at home?
