deeper, but if the final result is a pro
ductive oil well its influence on the
future of our state can hardly be esti
mated. Although the state has large
fuel resources of timber and coal, urn
der proper conditions and with propel
appliances neither wood nor coai can
compete with oil as a fuel from the
standpoint of economy and efficiency.
There is every reason to suppose that
oil will be found in Georgia; if not
at Rome, then somewhere else. The
topographical and geological condi
tions are identical with those of other
localities where the oil has been found
