DOUGLAS COUNTY SENTINEL. DOITGLASV' cw>nnr»
False Economy Not
Wanted
Atlanta, July 17.—Advocates
of. reduced appropriations, led by
Joe Hill Hall of Bibb county, the
■“watch dog of the treasury” and
chairman of the appropriations
committee of the house of repre
sentatives, are going to have a
hard time cutting the funds |for
education on the plea of war
time necessity.
Leaders in both the senate and
the house, which contain a larger
proportion of college men than
ever before, are determined that
there shall be no curtailment
either of common school appro
priations or appropriationsjifor
the institutions of higher learn
ing. The sentiment”is crystal
lized and determined, throughout
the state, that to reduce the
state’s educational facilities in
time of war would be the [same
sort of folly as reducingl the
plain food of growing children
in a period of food shortage.
On every, hand this sentiment
is manifesting itself, and the
combined demand of educational
leaders, school teachers, minis
ters, newspaper editors, college
men and college women, club
women and others, is more than
the advocates of drastic retrench
ment will be able to overcome.
Led by such men as Representa
tive Fred Morris of Cobb county,
* famous football star at the
University of Georgiu in his
college days, 'and chairman of
the committee of the house on
the University and its branches,
the friends of education are
standing in the breach and suc
cessfully testing back all at-
tempts'to curtail the support of j
the schools or the colleges.

strenuous delivery service. In this day and age you cannot
deliver the service which is required without a MAXFER. this is
