DOUGLAS COUNTY SENTINEL.
Taste is a matter of
tobacco quality
We state it as our honest belief
that the tobaccos used in Chester
field are of finer quality (and
hence of better taste) than in any
other cigarette at the price.

HOLLY MAY SOON BE EXTINCT
Popular Christmas Decoration la
Growing Less Bountiful ‘ Each
Year, According to Reports.
Christmas holly, that merriest und
most beloved of nil growing hushes.
Is threatened with extinction, accord*
lug to it warning sounded by lovers
of a red Cliristinus. Once growing
profusely in southoru New Jersey und
Maryland, it has been swept from
those states by the ruthless cutters
for the city markets, und must now
be sought In the swamps of Virginia
and North Carolina, where already
the supply is growing less bountiful
each year. The Gulf states have been
similarly shorn to make holiday for
the large cities.
Within another generation, botanists
say, holly will be as rare as mistletoe,
which used to grow In ahuudance ou
the Atlantic seaboard, as far north as
Raritan bay, but has now practical!;

Ramadan a Time of Trial to Mos
lems, Who Are Forced to Obey
wjLaws of th- Koran. ^
Ramadan Is a month of trials
all classes of Moslems, especially to
laboring men, who are supposed to
go without food, drink uml tobacco
from sunup to sundown.
Turkish restaurants are watched
carefully by Mohammedan policemen,
who are Instructed to arrest custom
ers und owners alike If any of the
followers of Allah violate the laws of
the Koran. Consequently Christian
restaurants and especially those which
have private rooms, become very popu
lar with the Mohammedans during tho
28 days which are supposed to be giv
en over to fasting and prayer.
Big guns are lired in Constantinople
to Indicate sundown, and the rush of
Turks to coffee houses and restaurants
approaches a riot.
During Ramadan the followers of
the great prophet are not supposed
to drink water during daylight hours.
Fasting makes the Turks so irritable
and impatient that it is extremely dif
ficult to transact business with them.
Ramadan is a less trying period to
Turkish men und women who are un
employed, as they merely sleep
through the duy and turn night into
a time of feasting.

DUTY.
Could I but do oho worthy deed.
Or write one living lino
To (111 the measure of tny need—
Could 1 but sow one fruitful seed.
Then were contentment mine.
Could I but slug one living none
To banish mortal pain;
Could 1 but right one crying wrong
Or help one weaker soul alone.
I had not lived In vain.
So vast the universe, so cold
Ttie peaks to which we climb,
■o gray the skies, the stars so oldt
bo many sheep strayed from the fold
And so swift fleeting Time:
Strive os 1 may, somehow it issms
That each succeeding sun
Finds me yet distant frous my dreams
On paths rock strewn, wick swsUaa
streams
And no day’s Journey done!
Tet must I carry on the tight.
Still I must do my beet.
Bo, when I pass from out the night
Into the day, into the light.
My weary soul may rest!
