Editor Herring served his county
this week by serving on the grand
jury. There are few better known
or better liked men in Berrien than
the editor of the Tifton Gazette.
A friend of ours in the watershed
section of the county was in town
a few days ago and informed us
that “Modesty” was speaking of
fencing off an acre or two of po¬
tato vines for his hogs.

Yesterday morning Mr. W. M.
Solomon had the cap of his left
knee cut in two with an edging saw
at Mr. John D. Paulk’s mill about
seven milos east of town. lie was
brought to town and Dr. Macon,
assisted by Dr. Ball, sewed up the
wound, the patient watching the
operation.

Dr. If. T. Kendrick was seized
with a stroke of paralysis last
morning while attending
Mrs. Chambliss, and for a while
was deprived of the use of his right
arm and leg. He is now slowly re¬
covering the use of both, and many
friends in this and adjoining coun¬
ties hope for his early recovery.—
