Court News.
Rockdale Superior court con¬
vened Monday morning. The
g: and jury organized with Mr.
D.M. Ahnaud foreman. Upon
its organization Judge Candler
.proceeded to.-deliver liis charge
and when lie had concluded it
was considered by all to be con
sise, able, comprehensive and
wholly complete. It required
the new Judge about 30 min¬
utes to organize and start the
court to disposing of business.
It was indeed quick work and a
smile of appioval passed from
free to face around the court
rtoiii.
Soliritof Kimsey, though new
in his office moved about his du¬
ties with the ease and precision
of a veteran. He has an excell¬
ent set of grand jurymen and
they have worked together with
good effect. Besides looking
closely to his duties, Solicitor
Kimsey has found time to meet
many people and we may add
has made equally as many
friends. Hois a most affable
gentleman, always attentive
and considerate, and our people
are peculiary susceptible *to
such admirable dispositions,
hence , the ease with which he
has ingratiated himself in their
esteem.
The court has made most ad¬
mirable progress. The follow¬
ing irases have been dually dis¬

We might truthfully say
the rapidity with which busi¬
ness has been disposed of at
this term is unpresceden u ! so
far as our court is concerned.
One week will wind up this
term of court. The court busi¬

COMMUNiCATED.
Mr. Editor:—I beg a few
lines of you valuable paper to
offer some suggestions to the
good citizens of Conyers and
vicinity with reference to the
new cotton mill.
The offer made by promoters
has never been equaled by any
one. Such propositions would
be acceptid very quickly by
every towu which has cotton
mills already. We must not
let this go by.
Now is the time to build the
mill, the only thing needed is
the hearty co-operation of our
citizens.
The money to be furnished
by the capitalists is ready to be
paid in. Will you weleom it,
or will you drive it away?. The
interest of our town is at stake,
let every man come and help
us, and soon you will see a new
era of business life in Conyers.
Respectfully,
E.1I. Ai.mand.
The Secretary’s report # of the
meetiNg of the Democratic . Ex¬
ecutive Committee of the comity
will be found in another col¬
umn. It is fall and plain, and
the committee has acted in
strict accord with the views of
a vast majority of the people
of the county. In the primary
election on June 6, our people
will vote for delegates to the
State Convention, which meets
in Macon ou July 25th, coun¬
ty and State house o-tticers will
be nominated and the people
will at the same time express
their choice for United States
Senator. This simplifies mat¬
ters and striKeS a popular
chord. We have no doubt that
each and every voter will take
great interest in the primary
and cast his ballot with genuine
feelings of appreciation.
Thirty-three counties up to
date have been placed in the
consolidated-primary-Ot-of-June
U.-S.-Senatorial* column and
still they come.
Go and register.
