The British are permitting this strug¬

Atlantans are much exercised over
the street railway problem. Mr. At¬

important light on the subject.

The proceedings of the Schley
court of inquiry have been read with
great interest by many people the
about *700.00 per day, and the aver¬

where the profit comes in. Admiral

Atlanta is now in the hands
of Harry Atkinson, and if he
manipulates her as he has the
street railway situation, he will
make a great city of our State
Capital.

The Governor of Georgia

President Roosevelt objects
to a body-guard. He is right.

Being a true American

Hon, Jerry M, Wilson,

health. He was a distin¬

LARGE PAPER.
khis Edition of the Weekly
Banner contains 12 pages,
is made up of home news and
home advertisements, This
speaks well for ihe town, es¬
pecially when it is understood
that no special effort on our
part was required to secure this
large business, a dead town
would not make this showing,
even under the spur. Our bu¬
siness men are all wide-a-wake
and utterly detest a duli time.
They have bought large stocks
and expect to do an immense
business. They know the val¬
ue of advertising, hence, this
paper of 12 pages.

HAY CROP.
The farmers of Rockdale have
saved tons and tons of as fine
pea vine hay as was ever housed
in any county in the South, a
soon as the fields were ready,
the mowing machines were put
to work and the result has been
more than profitable. The far
age crop has been immense and
most of it has already been
saved.
If we mistake not, the far¬
mers of this county wiji have

forage to do and to spare, and
they are to be congratulated
upon the fact. The farmer
who mifet come to market in
mid summer and buy western
hay to make bis crop with, can’t
expect to meet prosperity in the
fall. He has no kind of chance
with his neighbor who has an
enomious bain filled with for¬
age of his own making. We

their farms self-sustaining iu

Japanese Children.
A Japanese child 3 years old can
rwim like a fish, and often children
who will not learn of their own ac¬
cord are repeatedly thrown over¬
board until they become expert
swimmers. In the harbor children
eeem to be perpetually tumbling
overboard, but the mothers deliber¬
ately pick them out of tho water
and, cuffing them a little, go on
with their work. It is really aston¬
ishing at what age these boys and
girls will learn to scull a boat. A
Doat 20 feet long most adroitly
managed by three children, all
under 7 years of age, is no uncom¬
mon sight.
The Striking Part.
Jerrold all his life long bitterly
translating protested against the fashion of
cluded the and adapting, which ex¬
work of native writers
and gave a reputation to men for
work which 4hey had not originated.
Talking once with Mr. Blanche, a
noted adapter of plays, on this ques¬
tion, Blanche insisted that some of
his characters were original. “Don’t
you remember/’ he" said, “mv
baroness in ‘Ask No Questions?’”
“Yes, indeed, I don’t think I ever
saw a piece of yours without being
struck by your barrenness,” was the
reply.
