O.HENRY FOUND
Publisher, Here to See Mrs.
Corra Harris, Tells of Noted
Writer’s Texas Paper.
Peyton Steger, of Doubleday, Page &
Co., publishers, is in Atlanta today, aft
er a call on Mrs Corra Harris, whose
forthcoming novel probably will be
published by his company. He spent
several days with Mrs. Harris, who is
▼isiting friends in the country near
Cartersville, and they discussed the
new novel, which Mr. Steger thinks
•will equal any of the previous works of
the brilliant Georgia author.
Mr. Steger has been at the old home
of O. Henry, the literary genius who
died a short time ago. O. Henry, whose
real name was William Sidney Porter,
■was an intimate friend of the publisher,
and Mr. Steger has been visiting the
Btory writer’s old haunts In Texas.
"In Austin, hidden away by a woman
■who had treasured them, I found 62
copies of “The Rolling Stone,' a little
weekly paper which O. Henry had pub
lished years ago and long before he
achieved his reputation as America’s
greatest short story writer," said Mr.
fiteger. "Every Tine in them was writ
ten by Porter, and they were illustrated
with cartoons from his pen. It is, not
generally known, but O. Henry was an
Unusually clever cartoonist.
"Those old papers proved that Porter
had, even then, the sperk which after
ward blossomed into genius. The pa
pers were full of the quaint humor
Which marked his later and riper work.”
Mr. Steger expects to write a life of
O. Henry which will Include a number

CHICAGO. May 29.—The weekly

at the evils that beset a baby during
its first few months. Among the terse
bits of advice given are:
Baby saving is nation saving: there

There is no greater educational need
than that of “how to take care of the
baby.” The old-fashioned way won't

"Stand-patters” argue that in the

PARISBANDITS
Barricades Himself in House,
Firing on Police, and Is
Proud When Captured.
PARIS, May 29.—A large amount of
mischief has been created by a lad of
13 dwelling at a village near Aurillao,
whom a perusal of the account of the ex
ploits of the motor brigands had fired with
the ambition to emulate the performance
of Bonnet. After some reflection he de
cided on reproducing the scene at Du
bois’ garage at Choisy-le-Rol. and ac
cordingly, arming himself with an
axe, he fell upon and severely wounded
his brother, afterwards putting their
father, who had come to the child's res
cue. to flight.
The young bandit then proceeded to a
neighboring house, from which he took a
gun. some ready-made cartridges and a
collection of bullets and powder for the
manufacture of more; and, barricading
himself in the place., awaited develop
ments. These warlike preparations hav
ing attracted notice, siege was presently
laid to the house, but the bolder assail
ants were soon warned by a series of
shots to retreat, the boy shouting in great
glee: "You will have to blow me up!"
Gendarmes appeared on the spot, only to
be treated in their turn to some of his
target practice, and as a council of war
was being held, the lad ran up to a loft,
slipped out of a window after the manner
of Bonnet, and, dropping on the ground,
ran off as fast as he could. From time
to time, however, he halted to take shot
at his nearest pursuers, and he succeeded
in reaching a wood. As bls cartridges
were soon exhausted, he hid himself in a
thicket, and was engaged on making more
when he was discovered. All the same
he offered a stout resistance, and, when
finally led off to prison, he walked along
with evident pride at his performance.

Why take the risk of disfigurement

The mere fact that fake-dangerous
preparations are short-lived should
alone be sufficient warning to avoid the
use of any depilatory but that of proven
merit. DeMiracle has stood the test
of time. It was the largest selling de

has been sold each year since than the
combined sales of the nostrums.
All reliable dealers sell and recom
